Komets add Kucera to roster

From a Komets press release:

The Komets announced Wednesday that defenseman Connor Kucera has agreed to terms for 2015-16.

Kucera, 24, completed a four-year college career at Bowling Green last season before making his pro debut with the Komets during the playoffs appearing in five games.

"Connor joined the team for the playoffs last season and did a great job for us," Komets general manager David Franke said.  "He played very composed and was a good find by Coach Gary Graham."

Kucera tied his career highs of seven assists and eight points in 29 games last season with Bowling Green.  He amassed collegiate totals of six goals, 26 assists, 32 points and 107 penalty minutes in 141 games with the Falcons.

I think this is a great signing.

You may remember that Kucera was a healthy scratch for a number of games when he was first brought in.  But when finally given the chance, he was remarkably consistent and dependable.

This is the first notch in building a good defense, it puts him on the roster without eating into the 8 qualifying offers, and is a nice job by coach Graham and GM Franke.

He showed a lot of presence for a rookie in a playoff situation.
