Komets make qualifying offers

From a Komets' press release:

The Komets announced Wednesday their list of players who have received qualifying offers for the 2015-16 season.

Fort Wayne has made eight qualifying offers (four forwards, three defensemen and one goaltender) and the list includes Eric Faille (F), Matthew Pistilli (F),  Shawn Szydlowski (F), Brett Perlini (F), Drew Daniels (D), Cody Sol (D), James Martin (D) and Pat Nagle (G).

Players who had already signed a contract by June 30 did not need to receive a qualifying offer.

Each team was entitled to reserve the rights to a maximum of eight qualified players.  Of the eight qualified players, no more than four could be veterans (260 regular season professional hockey games played as of the start of the upcoming 2015-16 season).  Players on open qualifying offers cannot be traded.

The qualifying offer must remain open for acceptance until Aug. 1 at which time the qualifying offer becomes null and void and the team may sign the qualified player to any salary or may elect to take no further action.  Teams that extend a valid qualifying offer to a non-veteran player shall retain the rights to that qualified player for one playing season.

A team that extends a valid qualifying offer to a veteran player will retain the rights to that veteran until Aug. 1.  After Aug. 1, if the veteran player is not signed to a contract by the team, the veteran shall be deemed a restricted free agent and shall be entitled to seek and secure offers of employment from other ECHL teams.  Restricted free agents may not be traded.  When a restricted free agent receives a contract offer from a team other than the team with the player’s rights and the restricted free agent wishes to accept the contract offer, the restricted free agent and the offering member must, within 24 hours, notify the ECHL, the team with the player’s rights and the Professional Hockey Players’ Association.  The member with the player’s rights shall have seven days after the date it is notified to exercise its right to match the contract offer.

If a restricted free agent is not signed to either an offer sheet or a contract by an ECHL team by Aug. 31, the player shall be deemed an unrestricted free agent.

You do realize Capgeek ceased operations in January and the sites founder passed away in March due to cancer.

That information is outdated.

I'm not finding Mitchell Heards name on the Colorado site anymore?

Anybody heard anything on Heard?

Totally agree, who/suz, regarding Guggenberger.  This guy has a history of playing well, able to backstop a team rather than be a backup, and is one whom (most likely) would be with the team for the entire year.  His play in Australia would prove that any injury has healed and give him a headstart going in to the new season.

I'm all in for Nagle.  Just afraid that the K's might get stuck if he gets an extended call-up as he did last season (more than once).  I'm positive that the K's are figuring that if they can sign Nagle, whatever team they eventually align with will provide more goaltending.

Still, I'm rooting for Guggenberger.  He's got the goaltending traits I think are important.  Experience, size, (and just like the  temperature gauge on my truck) when he is working properly he's just a little left of center in his head!  Just how I expect my goaltenders to be!

Heard was drafted by Calgary and sent to Stockton to play.

can you share the link with the news the Heard signed with Calgary? I have looked everywhere and cannot find this info. I even went to his twitter and it nothing says anything about Calgary/Stockton

Only news I can find is his 3 year contract with Colorado is over and he is a free agent.

Someone, a few days ago, (I wish I could remember so I could give credit ) mentioned that the affiliation agreement wasn't announced 'till July 22.  Looking at the "archives", found that it is true.  So we'll just have to see what happens. (But that "next week" thing over and over again is frustrating, probably so much that the GM is hesitant to answer any more questions until an announcement is ready.  I don't blame him).  Also found that by July 1st last year the K's had signed five players.

Speaking of players, I hope someone can relieve my jitters after I noticed that Dean Ouellet was a -10 in just 26 games for Lyon in France...interesting dialogue on Mitchell Heard.  (Never figured there was even a small chance for him to make a return here).

Also thought that the news out of Toledo-Grand Rapids was really interesting.  Todd Nelson, (remember him?  a great player for Muskegon, and Ramsey selected as head coach and ass't).  Detroit has a great pipeline of coaches and that includes Lalonde (who has won everywhere he's been).

Another coach who has won everywher he's been:  Steve Martinson.

Heard was drafted or did you mean "signed" by Calgary? You can only be drafted once, in which he was the 41st selection in the 2012 NHL Draft by Colorado. http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=45566

There's lots of articles on Heard but this one gives some more emotion about some fans reaction to Colorado selecting him as their 1st pick, (2nd round). I'd still love to have him on my ECHL team.

Since there is no other news, I guess we have to make topics !    Yes, Heard would be a great sign if he is indeed a RFA. I would think at the very least an AHL team would sign him.  I still cannot find anything about Calgary signing Heard. Im assuming ANON. meant Calgary signed, not drafted.  Maybe he is getting ready to sign and its not inked yet but will be shortly. No idea. Since his three years are up and not seing anything on his status, I would imagine he is a restricted free agent. He is NOT listed on any of Colorado's roster(s). There is no mention of Calgary on his Twitter or Facebook other then to a friend who signed with them.  Interesting stuff ,thats all.

Now FYI  Muers is still listed on Colorado roster and I think is in 2nd or 3rd year of contract.   Always a fun player to watch when he wants to play.

Any thoughts on bringing back Auger or Marino? Just Curious if they left on good terms or not.
