Komets waive Pawlowski

The Komets' only roster move today was to waive defenseman Brad Pawlowski. Komets general manager David Franke said the team is contacting All-American Hockey League teams to see if they have any interest in the rookie if he clears waivers.

``We'd like to keep him in the States,'' Franke said. ``He wants to play pro and we'd like to have him develop more and be where if we need him in a pinch we can get him. We're trying to see what's out there for him. He could get picked up by somebody in our league.''

Other than that, the Komets are waiting to hear from Columbus before making any more moves. Blue Jackets assistant general manager Chris McFarland is flying back from Springfield today.

``We're holding off to see if we're going to get anybody,'' Franke said. ``If we're not that will make our decision that much easier. If we get somebody we'll go one way, if we don't we'll go another.''

Leo Thomas did not skate at practice today because of a sore groin, and Sean O'Connor was out of town for a personal reason, but both are expected back tomorrow. Keith Rodger also skated today for the first time after missing the first week with a back injury.

``I think he's fine and feels a lot better than he did before,'' Franke said. ``I think he'll be OK and good to go the rest of the week.''

Komets coach Al Sims said of Rodger, ``He looked good. His back is still a little bit tiggt but feeling better every day.
I think Rodg has to be given an opp to show what he can do and we don't want to do taht tuntil 100 percent. He's going to get an opp.
