A bunch of stuff

* Besides Ryan Potts, the Komets are also going to have local amateur goaltender Tony Manning the first few days of traininng camp. He'll help out until Kevin Reiter gets back from his AHL tryout on Worcester.

* Keith Rodger may not be ready to go at the start of training camp because of a bone buise in his lower back. He suffered the injury while working out, but the MRI came back negative, general manager David Franke said.

* One thing the Komets could do with their extra veteran spots is use them to fill in with Konstantin Shafranov or Kevin Bertram in a pinch, Franke said. He'd prefer to use Shafranov over a longer period of time, giving him a couple of weeks to skate in practice before using him in games, and Franke said he believes Bertram could fill in for a weekend if he could work it around his schedule as a Fort Wayne Firefighter. Potts could also be an option in an emergency.

``With a 19-man roster and dressing 18 this year... the last three years we've had that 20-man roster and we haven't had to bring a lot of guys in becuase we have a larger roster,'' Franke said. ``This year we have a little bit smaller roster and there may be people showing up from time to time.''

* The worst thing about playing in Fort Wayne? Every player will say the bus the Komets use, but this year that is changing dramatically, as Two Ladies and a Bus is converting the Komets' bus to a sleeper bus with 18 bunks, seating for 24 and two tables. Each bunk will have it's own monitor and DVD player.
