According to David Franke, the maximum salary cap is about $11,000 a week and the minimum is $8,000.
``It's about where we thought it was going to be all start of the summer,'' he said. ``Even if the IHL had remained, we were still going to drop the salary cap, so we're fine and don't have to make and adjustments. We're fine with everything. We're fine with our mix of younger players.''
Komets are not expecting to sign any more veterans because this is what they planned, plus they want some flexibility during the season in case of major injury.
There is some flexibility in the housing allowances, much more flexible than what the IHL supposedly had. (Don't ask, I don't know. I already did, and they aren't telling.) Teams are allowed to pick up a player's utilities and cable bill in this agreement. There are guidelines on how much teams can spend on single and married players' housing.
* Don't be shocked if the Komets bring back Konstantin Shafranov for short periods of time during the season if they get into a bunch of injuries.
* Players going to AHL camps: Mathieu Curadeau to Lake Erie, Kevin Reiter and Derek Patrosso to Worchester, Lincoln Kaleigh Schrock to Hershey and Craig Cescon to Norfolk.
* Komets will not be playing a third exhibition game. They couldn't find anybody to play.
* CHL requires all the immigration paperwork on players to be completed by the time they report to training camp. In the IHL you could work on it through the first month of the season or so.
