Komets sign three

The Komets announced Wednesday that three more players have agreed to terms and have been added to the preseason roster.  Two defensemen including David Cianfrini and Brad Pawlowski along with forward Tyler Fletcher boost the preseason register to 18 signees.

Cianfrini, 25, competed for four seasons at Canisius College under the supervision of head coach and former Komet Dave Smith.  Cianfrini earned Atlantic Hockey Top Scholar Athlete honors last season for having the highest GPA, a perfect 4.0.  The 6-foot, 210-pound defenseman  was named to the Atlantic Hockey All-Academic Team in each of his four years at Canisius.  The Dundas, Ontario native set career highs of seven goals and 15 points during 2009-10 appearing in 37 games.  Cianfrini has played 143 career games for the most of any Canisius player in the program's history and ranks second among all Canisius defenders with 45 career points and 14 career goals.  Cianfrini also appeared in two ECHL games with Victoria during 2009-10.

Pawlowski, 21, is the youngest player added to the roster to date.  The 6-foot-3, 220-pound blueliner appeared in 47 games in 2008-09 with Thunder Bay of the Superior International Junior Hockey League (SIJHL) where he led the team with 42 assists and ranked second in penalty minutes with 192.  Last season Pawlowski scored 10 goals and 40 points while leading Victoria in the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) with 116 minutes served.

Fletcher, 25, finished three seasons at the University of Wisconsin-Superior in the NCAA last year.  The Calgary, Alberta native amassed 16 goals, 30 points and 67 penalty minutes in 56 games the last two seasons with the Yellowjackets.  The 6-foot-2, 200-pound forward also skated one game with Laredo in the CHL last season.

The Fort Wayne preseason roster of 18 includes 11 forwards, six defensemen and one goaltender.
