He was on his way to a rehabilitation session in Madison, Wisconsin. He said he has not talked contract with anyone about this year because he said he's not sure if he's going to play. He tore his posterior cruciate ligament last year, played on it through the playoffs and had surgery this summer.
``No one will believe me, but I go through this every year,'' he said. ``When I'm ready, I'm not sure what I'm going to do. It's kind of a week-to-week it changes kind of thing. I try not to make my plans too far ahead, and right now my knee isn't ready yet so I'm not sure what I'm going to do.''
I said to him, OK, some of the folks on the internet are going to say you're just saying that to throw up a smokesc.
``If you ask me a question, I'll give you a straight answer,'' he said. ``It would be a lot easier if I knew what I was doing. I've got some options, but it will be finding the right situation if I decide to come back and play. I figure it will all work out when the time is right. Right now, because of the injury, there's not reason to try to figure it out right now.''
Stauffacher said he has a great relationship with Muskegon, recently spoke with Lumberjacks' General Manager Tim Taylor and continues to talk with former teammates.
``It's definitely not a situation where I have any issues with Muskegon,'' he said. ``The owners there have been really good to me.''
Stauffacher remains on the Lumberjacks' protected list until Jan. 10, and said the earliest he could play would be late-January, early-February -- if he decides to play. He's also a vice president in the family business, Six Titles Management, Inc. is a family-orientated property management company in the hotel and housing industries in Madison.
