Game 3 will be shown Wednesday night on Comcast Ch. 55 and Verizon 25, and then I think Otto said something about Game 4 being shown on Saturday. If that's incorrect, I'll let you know ASAP.
Can you imagine two better games for Tim to end on? Yeah, sure, another cup clincher, but he gets to finish with one of the greatest playoff comebacks ever and maybe the best game the Komets played all year. You can't beat that. What a fitting tribute to one of the classiest people ever to be associated with the Komets.
Can you imagine going to work an extra 600 nights over 22 years, especially driving down from Angola on winter nights the past few years? That's been a lot of very good hockey during that time, but also a lot of very bad hockey as well, and Tim always told it like it was. Even better, can you imagine putting up with Randy for 22 years and 600 games? I'm just kidding about that because it wouldn't have been close to as much fun without one or the other of them. They seem to have a rhythm that just works for each of them. They are the hockey version of MST3K! Except with grunts, growls and Oh My!
I swear there have been dozens of times where I'll watch on Wednesday nights and get just as wrapped up in watching the game as I did the week before at the rink just because of their enthusiasm. That right there shows you how good they are because the last thing I EVER want to do is watch another sporting event when I don' t have to. But somehow they usually manage to suck me in.
I think one of the fascinating storylines for next year will be to see whom they get to take Tim's place. That won't be an easy job to fill, trying to keep track of what's happening on the ice, keep Randy under control and listen to Otto in one ear all the time. That would drive me nuts, but Tim made it look relatively easy. The coolest thing about all those guys is that they are fans first, second and always. They never tried to hide their emotions or be anything that they weren't, and really that's why it always worked so well. They don't really worry about trying to be any good, and that's what makes them great.
So long my friend. Enjoy Florida. You have added to Komets history in so many positive ways that will never be forgotten.
