Bobby Rivard and Norm Waslawski scored during the third period to force overtime, and goaltender Chuck Adamson regained his form to fi nish with thirty-eight saves. Eddie Long saved the day in overtime when he stuck his stick behind Adamson to slap a puck away after it had slipped past the goaltender. Jan. 18, 1992, Komets 7, Indianapolis Ice 6: In the infamous ice-scraper game, the Komets trailed 5-1 heading into the third period before Bruce Boudreau and Scott Gruhl started the epic comeback. Boudreau had two goals and two assists and Gruhl two goals and an assist, but Sean Gauthier saved everything by coming off the bench to win the shootout.
Oct. 4, 1995, Komets 8, Chicago Wolves 7: Once trailing 7-3, the Komets scored three goals in the final 1:35 to tie the game. Lee Davidson scored on a penalty shot with 37 seconds left to force the shootout. ``I feel bad for the 3,000 fans that left (early),'' Komets Coach Dave Farrish said. ``They're going to read it in the paper tomorrow and think it was April Fool's or something.''
Dec. 4, 1999, Komets 5, Flint 4 SO: The Komets scored four goals in 5:20 in the third period, and then won in the shootout, leading coach Dave Allison to say, ``This game is not about fighting or anything, it's about battling, it's about man-on-man,'' he said. ``They came out, and I don't care where you play, if it's midget, peewee or whatever, there's no better feeling in the world than going in the dressing room and knowing you've played with passion and effort and you played like a man. Sex might be a nice feeling, but it doesn't last as long as winning.'' Except he forgot Mrs. Allison was sitting in the room. ``You know what I mean, honey.'' Luckily for him, she did.
Feb. 4, 2011, Komets 5, Wichita 4 SO: On a 1-3-3 home skid and playing against the Central Hockey League's hottest team, the Komets entered the third period trailing 4-0 but Bobby Phillips scored to break through, and then Tab Lardner scored a power-play goal to give them hope. Sean O'Connor scored with 40 seconds left, and then Lardner nailed a backhand with 8 seconds remaining to force overtime. Nick Boucher stopped all four Thunder skaters in the shootout as the Komets won that 2-0.
