Going to be a long night

Both teams are playing very carefully and with good reason. The ice is really rough and the puck is rolling all over the place. There's no way anybody is going to score a pretty goal in this game. It's just not going to work out.

Komets out-shot the Mavs 15-9 in the first period. Both teams are dumping and chasing because I'm guessing they are wary of a turnover at center ice for a transition opportunity. Both teams are trying to be patient, and there's a much slower pace to the game than in Game 3.

Referee Boone Bruggman has been all over the calls in the first period, keeping control of the game.

This is only the second time in the playoffs that Missouri has been held without a goal in the first period.

Missouri goaltender Charlie Effinger has given up more rebounds than he has in the first three games of the series.
