DeAngelis retires

The Komets announced Friday that defenseman Frankie DeAngelis has decided to retire from the game of hockey.

DeAngelis announced his retirement and notified Komet management that he will take employment back home outside of hockey.  "Frankie was a great Komet and even a greater person," Komet general manager David Franke said. "We will miss him in many ways, but once a Komet, always a Komet."

During his career with the Komets, DeAngelis was selected to the 2009-10 IHL All-Rookie Team, named to the 2011 CHL All-Star Team, voted to the 2011-12 All-CHL Team and was honored as Komets Defenseman of the Year twice (2010-11and 2011-12).

Last year DeAngelis completed his third consecutive season in Fort Wayne appearing in all 66 regular season games scoring career highs of 18 goals, 28 assists and 46 points.  The Woodbridge, Ontario native also skated all 18 playoff games netting four goals and 14 points en route to his second league championship with the Komets.
