Turnstone Center is hosting its second-annual Sled Hockey Challenge on Saturday at Lutheran Health SportsCenter, which will include an event with the Komets Legends.
The day starts at 2 p.m. with an opportunity for new players to try out sled hockey. The rest of the schedule is as follows:
3 p.m.: Turnstone Flyers v. FW Youth Hockey Players
4 p.m.: FW Fire Dept. vs. FW Police Dept. in a regular game
5 p.m.: Turnstone Flyers vs. Komets Legends in a sled game
6 p.m.: Komets Legends in a regular game
7:10 p.m.: An Oldtimers Game
7-9 p.m.: Free public skating
Beer tasting from 4-6 p.m. I asked, and they said it's totally a coincidence that the beer tasting is taking place an hour before the Komets Legends are set to hit the ice.
Komets Legends who are scheduled to appear include Guy Dupuis, Steve Fletcher, Doug Teskey, Kevin Bertram, Kelly Hurd, Jim Logan, Dale Baldwin, John Hilworth, Derek Ray, Eddie Long, Ron Leef and Robbie Irons. George Drysdale will also be coaching.
Couple of cool things. There will be a chance to enter a raffle for a chance to shoot a puck to win a new Dodge Dart, win Pepsi for a year, watch a Komets game from the Pepsi Suite with 26 friends, a cooler, a Mountain Dew cornhole set, a canopy tent, electionic basketball game and some other prizes.
Admission is free, but donations are welcome. If you give a donation of $20 you will receive two Komets script tickets along with five raffle tickets.
