From a Komets' press release:
The Komets announced Thursday that they have acquired goaltender Ben Meisner from the Utah Grizzlies of the ECHL in a trade for forward Phil Mangan.
Meisner, 23, started this season with Utah appearing in 12 games (2-8-0, 2.65 goals-against average). Meisner attended the Chicago Wolves AHL training camp prior to the start of the 2013-14 campaign. Last season the Halifax, Nova Scotia native completed four seasons of AHA (Atlantic Hockey League) play with American International College and capped his college career with a spot on the NCAA (AHA) Second All-Conference Team. Meisner made his pro debut last year appearing in eight ECHL games with Utah posting a seven-game unbeaten string in his first seven starts.
Mangan, 26, began this season appearing in two games with Rapid City before being traded to Fort Wayne and added to the roster 11/9/13. The forward accumulated three assists and eight penalty minutes in 15 games with the Komets.
Komes GM David Franke said the team will got with three goalies during the weekend.
``We're going to figure out our goaltending situaton. I don't know if it will get taken care of by the weekend. Right now we have three goalies and we'll figure it out.''
Could the Komets be making a deal with one of the three goalies?
``That could happen. That's probably what's going to happen. We're going to take the process a little slow and maybe one goalie goes on reserve.''
