Komets sign defenseman

From a Komets press release:

The Komets announced Wednesday that Mikael Tam (pronounced Michael Tamm) has agreed to terms and becomes the seventh defenseman on the preseason roster.

Tam, 23, will be entering his third pro year after sharing last season with Lake Erie in the AHL (34 games) and Denver in the CHL (14 games).  The Quebec City, Quebec native helped Denver to the 2014 Presidents' Cup Finals after finishing the season scoring seven assists and nine points in 14 regular season games.  Tam notched three goals and six points in 14 post-season games with the Cutthroats.

In 2011-12 Tam completed five seasons of major juniors play (QMJHL) with the Quebec Remparts under head coach Patrick Roy, currently head coach of Fort Wayne's NHL affiliate the Colorado Avalanche.  Tam led Quebec with 106 penalty minutes and topped Remparts defensemen with 15 goals.  Tam appeared in the playoffs each of his five seasons in the juniors, registering QMJHL totals of 11 goals, 22 assists and 33 points in 66 post-season games.

Tam made his pro debut in 2012-13 appearing in 37 ECHL games with San Francisco while also logging 19 AHL games with Worcester.
