He is extremely happy to be here, though he got lost on 469 and didn't recognize Jefferson Pointe, either. He met with coach Greg Puhalski and the Frankes today and told them he'd do whatever they needed from him. He said the only reason he wasn't here earlier was because of his wife's recovery from surgery, but she's doing well and he was able to fly his mother-in-law out over the weekend.
"The Frankes have been great to me all the time when I played here and the years after,'' he said. "They have always been first-class to me. I have no qualms about playing for them at all, but this was a situation with my family.''
His wife may join him in Fort Wayne if the Komets advance past this round.
He said he's in pretty decent shape because he's been running and riding the bike at home. The only Komets he knows are former defensive partner Guy Dupuis and Jonathan Goodwin who he knows from skating around the Boston area.
He'll wear No. 28 and said his groin strain is now 100 percent.
As for next year:
``I'm just going to take the playoffs right in front of us and concentrate on that. I'm sure next year will take care of itself, and we'll address that later.''
He doesn't think he'll be too nervous on Tuesday night, just excited.
Campbell also said he became pretty good friends with former Komet Danny Stewart in Danbury. I told him to wait until he heard Lance Galbraith and then decide who talks more. My vote is on Galley, if only because he forgets to breathe when he gets wound up. Right now the Komets need that energy.
