Komets lose in Flint

For the second game in a row, the Fort Wayne Komets have fought back to tie the score but then lost the lead on the very next shift. This time it cost them a 3-2 loss at Flint.

The Generals led 2-0 halfway through the second period on goals by John DiPace and Justin DePretis before the Komets got on the board with P.C. Drouin's 13th goal of the season. Fort Wayne the game 2-2 on Sean O'Connor's second of the season at 13:11 of the third period, but the Generals came right back on the next shift as Steve Rymsha deflected a Kyle Deck blast from the point for a 3-2 Flint lead.

The Komets out-shot the Generals 30-25, but fell five points behind International Hockey League leader Port Huron which won 6-4 at Muskegon. Fort Wayne has lost two games in a row and six of its last eight.

"We made the other goalie look good," Komets coach Al Sims said. "We out-shot them badly and they made most of their chances. We won't get to the net and everything is from the perimeter."

The Komets were also held scoreless in five power-play chances, and held the Generals scoreless in eight chances.

Sims said the status of defenseman Kevin Bertram might be a game-time decision before tonight's contest against Bloomington after the defenseman was hit in the foot by three shots Friday night. Forward David Hukalo also did not play with a sore back.
