We've got some bids

We now have three bids for our two Kan Man sculptures we're auctioning off for the Rob Guinn memorial fund. They were built by long-time Komets fan Jerry Long of Grand Prairie, Texas, and stand about two feet tall. The two leading bids are for $50 and $65.

We're also upping the stakes a little. Anyone who contributes (not bids, contributes) more than $50 will get a free autographed copy of the next book, "Legends of the Komets" which is scheduled to be out on opening night. It's about the 13 men who have their names on the retired numbers banners and includes a Where Are They Now? listing of more than 800 former Komets.

There are two ways to enter: Either in person at Komet Kuarters 515 E. Coliseum Blvd., where you can examine a “Kan Man” in person, or through this blog by emailing me at bsebring@news-sentinel.com. If you are going to email me a bid, please include your name, address and phone number which I will be checking. However, those details will NOT be published on the blog. You will be asked for the same details at Komet Kuarters.

If the bidding for our two tin men exceeds $100 each, with more than two people making those bids, Jerry has agreed to build some more for those bidders. You would be responsible for postage as well.

Mark from Komet Kuarters is going to email me the bids he receives at the store and I will combine those with the bids I receive to post them daily so folks can keep up. The bidding will end Monday, Sept. 15 at 7 p.m. when the store closes.

Every dime of the winning bids will be presented to Rob's wife Brooke. Thank you to everyone who participates or who even considers taking part.
