The Komets announced Wednesday that two rookies have been added to the preseason roster. Freshmen defensemen Matthew Chromy and Brian Boulay along with forward Dominic Osman have all agreed to terms and will join the Komet camp when it opens Oct. 6.
Chromy (KROME-ee), 24, checks in as a six-foot, six-inch, 250 pound defenseman. He completed his stint with the University of Michigan-Dearborn last season leading the Wolves with 15 goals, 31 assists and 46 points in 32 Amercian Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) games. Chromy was UMD's assistant captain and was selected as a Third Team ACHA All-American for the second consecutive year. The Crystal Lake, Illinois native was a First Team selection his sophomore year, making him the second UMD hockey player to be named an ACHA All-American three times in a career.
Boulay (boo-LAY), 24, completed four seasons of NCAA play at Merrimack College in 2007 and started his pro career at Reading in the ECHL last season. The six-foot-one, 205-pound defenseman passed six assists while accumulating 51 penalty minutes in 35 games last season with Reading.
Osman, 26, completed four seasons with Lake Superior State in the NCAA from 2003-2007. The forward ranked fifth in scoring with New Mexico in the CHL last year marking 24 goals and 47 points in 60 games.
The Komet's 2008-09 roster expands to 16 players including nine forwards, six defensemen and one goaltender with eight and a half weeks remaining until training camp. Camp begins Monday, Oct. 6 at the Coliseum.
