The Komets are still very upset about Saturday's altercations. No one seems to be upset with the suspensions the league handed down, but they are mad that Jason Lawmaster didn't receive any suspension.
“There's a lot of stuff I want to stay to you that you obviously can't put in the paper,” Komets center Leo Thomas said. “I wanted to jump off the bench and go after Lawmaster. I think everybody did. I don't know Lawmaster personally, but I've played against him and he's usually not like that. If I had done what I wanted to, I'd have probably been suspended for 15 games.”
Konstantin Shafranov is fine and has not missed any practice time since the incident. He skated like normal in practice today, spending a lot of time joking with teammates.
“It's embarrassing,” Komets center Colin Chaulk said. “I think it makes our league look bush league. I think they gave the right suspensions to Mac and Big Snake, but I think Lawmaster should have gotten something.
“I don't know if it's over. I understand the old policing of the game, you don't want to hit their scorers and tough guys are supposed to fight tough guys, but I don't know if it's warranted to send your whole bench out.”
“As for going back after them, yeah, we can do that, but it's just going to be a continuous thing, so is that what we're supposed to do?” Komets veteran Blair Stayzer said. “Am I supposed to jump (Todd) Robinson, and then the next game Lawmaster jumps Chaulk, and the next game I jump Bouchard?
