Komets add two to roster

The Komets announced Tuesday the addition of two players to the preseason roster. Netminder Tyler Sims and forward Michael Uvodich have agreed to terms and have been invited to the Komet training camp.

Sims, son of Komet head coach Al Sims, will be entering his second full season as a pro after skating four seasons of NCAA play with Providence College. Tyler Sims appeared in 14 games with the CHL's Mississippi RiverKings last year registering a 9-5-0 record and 2.66 goals-against average. The rookie goalie helped Mississippi win the Northeast Division title and advance to the CHL semi-finals.

Tyler Sims, 23, was born in West Berlin, Germany, while his father played defense for Berlin in the Germany elite league. Tyler Sims arrived in Fort Wayne at the age of three when his father returned to the states to skate his final pro season with the Komets in 1988-89. Prior to the Komet training camp, Tyler Sims will attend the AHL's Chicago Wolves camp.

Uvodich, 22, will be attending the Komets' 2009 training camp as an invitee from the AAHA's Evansville Ice Men. He is the third member of the Ice Men to be invited to the Komet camp. Uvodich skated last year with Evansville scoring 23 goals and 36 points in 32 games.
