With the first cast he was wearing on his broken arm, Komets forward P.C. Drouin said he felt fine, but when it came off his arm felt lousy. With the second cast, his arm felt lousy, but when it came off Monday morning, the arm felt much better. Drouin said Dr. Greg Sassmannshausen of FWO told him there's still a possibility the Komets' leading scorer come play in the Turner Cup finals.
Drouin is leaving with the team this afternoon and will be in warm-ups Tuesday night in Muskegon.
"The cast is off, and I can start moving the wrist and see how it goes," Drouin said. "The longer the series goes, the better chance they think I'll have. He wants me to start stick handling and shooting and whatever I can do to get ready.
"It feels great. I thought I'd have to stay in the cast for longer and I felt my chanes were kind of bad. The only problem I have right now is my wrist is stuff from being not able to move it for this long."
Drouin, who led the Komets in scoring this season with 98 points, was hit by a slap shot from teammate Kevin Bertram in the next-to-last regular-season game, suffering a small fracture in his right arm.
Drouin said he's not in game shape but emotion will carry him and it shouldn't take too long to get ready.
"I don't even think I'd want to be in the lineup tomororw or Wednesday and take a chance on messing with a lineup that just won 7-1," he said.
