Notes on Game 5

Al Sims is a great coach: Knowing his team was snakebit after Game 4, he showed them a highlight tape of all their goals this season against Joel Martin before Friday's game... Justin Hodgman and Reggie Primeau are the only Komets ever to score two playoff overtime goals, and Reggie was at the game... So was Lenny Thornson, back from Florida... P.C. Drouin is going to skate in warm-ups and will be a game-time decision tonight... The overtime penalty call on Detulleo was weak compared to the way Ryan Carroll called the rest of the game. He still called a good game... Hoss, Hoss, Hoss, you are a beast!... Komets president Michael Franke said the IHL is still very much in talks with Quad City and Dayton for expansion, hopefully for next year... Including Friday, Bob Chase has called 448 of the Komets' 453 playoff games all-time. Amazing... Hodgman used a great move by pushing the puck forward off the final faceoff. He said he'd been pulling it back all night and wanted to try something different... Line of the night: Kalamazoo announcer Mike Modugno asking how many Fort Wayne people it takes to blow up a rocket?... How many offsides calls were missed tonight?... It's no surprise Nick Bootland is just as classy a coach as he was as a player... Did it seem like the Komets were all trying to go 1-on-1 against the whole Kalamazoo team for scoring chances most of the night?... Three of the five games so far have been decided by one goal... Finally, how much does this series resemble last year's semifinals against Muskegon?
