2012 Fall Foliage Photo Contest entries

Here are all of the entries in our Fall Foliage Photo Contest. We received some stunning photos. Thanks to all who entered!

Chris Kessens, who was declared the winner of the contest by judges, entered this photo of the Glades Creek grist mill in Babcock State Park in West Virginia.
Johanna Waikel of Fort Wayne sent in this photo taken in Westwood North commons behind her home. The fog had just lifted and the sun shone through. The leaves on one tree glistened in red and purple hews. Other trees were dressed in yellows and oranges. The willow had a blue-green color dispersed throughout while the sunshine crowned the top. The reflection in the pond was amazing.

Maxine Neher entered this photo taken in Spring Mill State Park in southern Indiana.  "We spent two nights at the park," she said.
Wendy Deskins entered this photo taken behind their country home and barn, where there is a path her husband, Joe, uses to work his horses. "While driving his horses on this path, he encounters wild turkeys and deer that live in these woods along the path," she said.  "We are from Auburn."

Robert Albertson took this photo in October of fall flowers at entrance as they drove out through the beautiful fall colors of the trees in the north side of Quebec City, Quebec, in Canada. "The best foliage in any part of the area of St. Lawrence Seaway," he said.
Dan Vorndran took this photo capturing a golden morning at LaSalle Canyon in Starved Rock State Park in northern Illinois.
Reagan Mikesell entered this photo showing the loneliness of Fall. "All the plants seem to die, and the leaves fall and the animals go into hibernation, so what remains is deserted," Reagan said. The photo was taken at the Environmental Center behind Homestead High School on Homestead Road.
Phyllis Peters entered this photo, saying "These beautiful fall mums were planted in front of my home  many years ago in Spencerville. Every year, they grow fuller, and you can see their bright fall colors (especially the yellow ones) from the road in front of my home. I love to sit on my porch in the cool of the day and admire their beauty."
Denny Beck took this photo Oct. 6 at Lindenwood Nature Preserve in Fort Wayne. "The pond at Lindenwood is one of my favorite spots to take colorful fall photos," he said.

Winston Oliver of Fort Wayne took this photo of a rose in the backyard at Jacob Creek Run addition. It shows the turning leaves of sugar maples behind the fence. "The last rose of summer welcomes autumn," he said.
