Second period, I believe Quad City had a grand total of 3 shots on goal, but 2 of them went in within moments of each other. We knew Francis left town Wednesday, so why did we deliberately play a short bench on Friday? Healthy A-Pod sitting out because he is weak in the defensive end? Seasoned players make repeated mistakes on defense, but I have never seen one of them benched. Mirasty sitting out because QC does not have a goon? I ask again, can Mirasty play in front of the net? I know he can check, and we could have used that help. If Mirasti got in front of the net, I doubt that too many other players would attempt to move him. How will he get up to playing form if he is sitting dressed on the bench? Guess I'm glad I'm not the coach...

RK.. Hate to tell you but that first goal wasn't warners assist. What game were you watching? He wasn't one of the two guys behind the net that got beat physically then let the goal scorer walk out between them and score. Give credit where deserved but also the critisism

Who is softer Al SIms or David Franke? They sign another physical player & leaves him on the bench the whole 3 period just like they did with Leggs. When are the fans going to realize that Al dosen't want a physical team, & David is to worried about his ego to realize that. Is it time for us to get a new coach for this team? Apod in the stands another great move AL. David but winning ahead of your ego.

Youre right, brian. Your undying love and devotion for Warner do deserve credit, even if youre now resorting to blaming his screw-ups on other players. Whose fault was it that Warner let QC skate passed him along the boards all night with no contact? Boucher's? Franke's? Didier's? I did see him put his version of a check on someone ONCE in the 2nd period and almost had a heart attack when the "check" was actually hard enough to make a little noise against the glass.

Maybe instead of a thread for the best middleweight fighter the Ks have ever had, he should've challenged us to name a softer lightweight defenseman who kept his job for years without touching anyone.

Also hilarious how he has been addressed by others on this thread, but your attention span only allowed you to read the first post.

Our "best" guys come off the IR, Al replaces the guys who have been the hottest team in the league with them, and the losing starts with boring play again. The Komets were kicking butt and taking names from the best teams in the league, but QC comes in and handles the Ks at home.

Show up the arena with realistic expectations. It's Quad City....and there are a few other "soft" teams out there yet to play so don't expect a Nasty fight every game. I do not get the sitting him on the bench all night though. But for every post to be focused on Mirasty and how much he played is nuts. The Komets had bigger issues last night than Mirasty sitting on the bench. But he should of been put out there more often than 3 shifts for nothing else than to maybe wake up the fans and his teammates.
I knew going in this was going to be a yawn-fest but I was not expecting this kind of flat performance overall. Whether this guy needs to go or that guy needs to go....THIS is YOUR team. We win several in a row and everyone is great. We lose one game, albeit in pathetic fashion and Sims, Franke, Warner, PC, Curdy, ect all suck. Really? Weren't they just playing well and being praised just a few days ago? Look at the big picture and what has transformed in the past 10-15 games. Gonna be bad games and guys playing below expectations will have some up and down games.....so deal with it. Stay the course and focus on making the playoffs. The Green Bay Packers are proof enough you just need to make the show and anything can happen.

None of the goals are ever Boucher's fault.
Warner never makes a mistake.

At least one of these guys has earned the right to be defended.

I like aPod. But his defensive skills are thin.

How can we go from the hottest team in the league and making a run and our fourth cup and one loss later we are in trouble and need to make drastic cuts??? I understand this season has been like no other in a long time, but can we please stop all this extreme talk? If we win tonight, do we get to go back to bragging that we are the best? The team has turned around this season and they still have a great chance of making a run. One night will not change what the team has done in the past month! Show some backbone and admit QC out played us last night. We let down for a few minutes and they got some soft goals that our D should not have let in. I have all the faith they will get back on a winning streak.

I agree, hoss, but we've been calling for the heads of PC and Curdy consistently since day 1.

youknowwho!!!!!!!!!
Sat, 02/12/2011 - 12:27pm

need to look at how pc always helps out on forchecking he is the biggest wimp i ever seen instead of helping out he goes to the blue line waiting for someone to pass him the puck, pathetic. Look at curdy -15 he is doing nothing for this team but hurting them. Wish they would send both packing but know that aint going to happen.

RK.. You really still don't get it. I'm not a warner supporter. You obviously think you know the game but don't have a clue. Funny how denfensive you get when someone calls out your opinion.

Warner was responsible for goal 1....even though it was still a pretty soft shot.....Cescon fell asleep on the cutter on goal 2, so that one is his fault....the other two were just TERRIBLE turnovers leading to offense the other way and Boucher really didn't have a chance on either of them.

I am still going to say what I have been saying all season long....we are super soft at D from top to bottom. Wednesday night was an aberration. Reiter played out of his mind that night. Giving up 4 each night to Wichita and 4 to Quad City tells me that when we play a good offensive team that is aggressive on the forecheck and the transition that comes from it, we struggle to get back and defend and it leads to Bouch/Reiter getting hung out to dry.

So if I respond Im defensive. Good theory I guess. I've never seen you stick up for any other player, but when Warner is mentioned you get in a tizzy like clockwork. I guess that's the only player you see in Vacationland lower 209, then when you go home to the Warner posters on the ceiling of your bedroom.

Sat, 02/12/2011 - 1:15pm

Not sure how Warner was responsible when it was a defenseman who scored and the forward (Lardner) had him and let him get away.

Blake Sebring
Sat, 02/12/2011 - 1:19pm

They did not play a short bench on Friday. There were the regular 10 forwards and six defensemen in the lineup.

I never liked Shaf, too soft of a player & scared to fight

Are you kidding??? Too soft??? Scared to fight??? He's a hockey player not an MMA fighter, oh wait...never mind.

I always liked Shaf. Amazing puck handler and just all-around fun to watch. I just wish Id gotten to see him in his younger days when he couldve put speed with his other talents. Always thought he was hilarious on his player intro too. Shaf is definitely missed.

Blake Sebring
Sat, 02/12/2011 - 2:28pm

I'm not sure Shaffy was ever all that quick, at least not as I remember. He'd have stuck in the NHL if he was a little faster. He was usually the slowest guy on the ice with his feet, but the fastest with his head and hands. He was always the trailer scoring the goal on the rebound or off the pass.

Unload the defense because it was all their fault. Unload the goalies because it was all their fault. Unload the offense because it was all their fault.

Get it??

It was the teams fault!

BTW Play APOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Blake Sebring

You may be waiting quite a while on Apod. Maybe somebody will get hurt. He has amazing skills, but he's still learning to use them at this level.

Sat, 02/12/2011 - 3:16pm

So Blake, how long until Curadeau learns To use his skills at this level and why do we have such a devotion to him?

zanderson84
Sat, 02/12/2011 - 3:27pm

So you mean to tell me that Warner didn't stand there and watch the man skate all the way to Boucher and unload from 4 feet away instead of skating outside the crease to seal it to the side? As a D-Man his job is to cut that angle and keep the puck behind the net and hope the forward does his job and gets back on the rotation to cover the backside. Also it was Phillips that got burnt behind the net...not Lardner. Watch that replay again Blake.

Blake Sebring
Sat, 02/12/2011 - 3:28pm

Aw, here's a tissue. Seriously, if you can't tell the difference skill-wise, nothing I or anyone else says can help you.

Blake Sebring
Sat, 02/12/2011 - 3:35pm

Sure, and he's also responsible for whatever is happening behind him at the same time. I'm sorry, there were three Komets in the corner, which meant he was the only guy back. He slid to take away the pass and the lower part of the net, forcing the guy to make the tougher shot. He did. Sometimes you have to give the opponents credit for making a good play. That was a good play.

Also, who do you guys think the Komets' two leading scorers are on the road this season? P.C. Drouin and Mathieu Curadeau.

Never let facts get in the way of a good hate.

Blake Sebring
Sat, 02/12/2011 - 3:38pm

OK, so it was Phillips. He still should have had him, and there was a QC player behind Warner on the other side waiting for the pass. Where was the forward coming down to cover that guy?

Guys, it's rarely just one person's fault on a play like that. It truly is called team defense for a reason.

zanderson84
Sat, 02/12/2011 - 3:43pm

A slight argument against P.C. being the leader in road goals. Yes, he is, however guys like Tab, Leo, Chaulk and Musselwhite have played significantly less road games than P.C. so I would expect him to be the leader. I will say this about P.C., he is a great player when he dedicates himself to all 60 minutes of a hockey game. Its just that it seems like he never does it in home games.

zanderson84
Sat, 02/12/2011 - 3:46pm

Also...I have 0 clue where the forward was on the rotation....lol...thats why I said if you are Warner you just gotta commit to the first threat and hope your teammate does his job. I think we are all just frustrated because we expect this team to be lockdown on defense after the last 2 seasons and this year it seems we just play softer than we have. Then when we don't score the 5 or 7 goals we have no chance to win unlike the 2-1 wars with Port Huron and Flint we were winning last year.
