Gary Bettman went nuts today, well, at least more nuts than usual.
As I've said from the beginning, I'm on the players' side on this one. Is it the players' fault that the owners didn't limit the length of contracts in the last agreement? Heck, no. The owners didn't intend to pay off any of those longer contracts, anyway.
You can read the story here. And all about his poor wife.
Komets General Manager David Franke said today that forward Eric Giosa is trying to shoot for coming back after the Reading/Wheeling trip at the earliest. He tweaked his ankle again a couple of weeks ago and the team doctor decided to shut him down and rest it all the way so he could totally heal before coming back.
I still can't wait to see a line of Giosa, Beauregard and Smith play.
Matt Kennedy is back in Norfolk working on an upper leg injury and hopes to go on the ice next week. Once he gets in shape, the Admirals will decide if he's coming back or not.
And the North Division race will go to the final weekend. You can read it all here.
Komets center Brett Smith returned to practice today after missing Friday's game with a sore groin. He'll take the spot in the lineup of Kaleigh Schrock who has to sit out this Friday's game because of an automatic suspension. Schrock received an instigation penalty in the last five minutes of last Friday's game.

Heard today that forwards Garrett Klotz, Ryan Lasch and Luca Caputi are all coming north with the Komets after tonight's game. All three were assigned to the Komets by Norfolk of the AHL earlier this week. No idea how long they'll be staying with the Komets.
Also, Brett Smith is sitting out tonight's game with a sore groin and is helping coach Al Sims behind the Komets' bench. Kaleigh Schrock is back in the lineup after sitting out Wednesday's game.
