Scrimmage report 2

Chris Auger is back in Fort Wayne but will not be skating for  a few days as he deals with what David Franke says is a lower body injury... Stephon Thorne was back after missing Monday with an illness, and he looked sharp, finishing checks all over the ice... J.P. Chabot and Nicolas Thommen continue to battle in front of the net, and Thommen seems to be the only defensemen on the black team with the size to come close to handling Chabot... Cory Schneider scored off an assist from Thorne, and Linus Werneman off an assist from Matt Firman...

Scrimmage Report 1

Just some general observations:

The Stanley Cup

Rob Laird's name is on the far right, fifth row from the top. Seeing it engraved makes it feel even more real in a way. Congratulations again, Rob!

The Fort Report with Kevin Leininger

We discuss the new book, the Komets and Fort Wayne sports history among other things.

Komets release two, already

Goaltender Jeff Rose and defenseman Chris Hultigin. They have added defenseman Jeremy Gates.

Anybody still doubt this is going to be ridiculous year of player movement?

Off to cover football.

ECHL press release

Format for 2013 Kelly Cup Playoffs

The top eight teams in both the Eastern Conference and Western Conference will advance to the 2013 Kelly Cup Playoffs. All four rounds of the playoffs will be played in a best-of-seven format.

In the Eastern Conference, postseason berths will be awarded to the first-place team in each division and the next five teams in the conference, based on points.

Roster changes

The ECHL prohibits teams from talking about the roster moves until the official training camp rosters are announced tomorrow, but the Komets did have a couple of faces at the informal skate today who are not on the official roster, goaltender Gerry Festa who has been here all fall, and forward Pat Knowlton who played 26 games last year with Rapid City. He looked really sharp today.
