Just talked to David Franke who said he was looking over a first draft of the schedule, and he confirmed the Komets will open against Rapid City in Fort Wayne on Oct. 16.
The Komets announced Wednesday that three more players have agreed to terms and have been added to the preseason roster. Two defensemen including David Cianfrini and Brad Pawlowski along with forward Tyler Fletcher boost the preseason register to 18 signees.
I asked CHL Commissioner Duane Lewis if he was surprised at all the criticism of the playoff format, and he said:
``I'm a little surprised. I know there's always going to be criticism, and I don't think that's unusual. The decision met with almost unanimous approval from the league owners and the players through the PHPA. There wasn't much hesitation because it was received so well by every party we deal with.
Komets general manager David Franke just said the CHL has requested some more information and time and the 2010-11 schedule may not be released until next week.
Franke also said he expects to hear from Frankie DeAngelis this week, Guy Dupuis and Brandon Warner. He said the Komets will not try to replace Matt Syroczynski in the lineup because they don't have the payroll left for a first-line player.
