Playoff format announced

The Central Hockey League (CHL), following approval from the league's Board of Governors, announced today the playoff format for the 2010-11 season that will see 16 of the league's 18 teams will qualify for the post-season.  The CHL's regular season will consist of 66 games and will run from Friday, October 15 through Sunday, March 27 with the post-season starting the week of March 28.

Komets sign Boucher, O'Connor

Nick Boucher and Sean O'Connor become the sixth and seventh players to return for a chance at another Fort Wayne championship, the Komets announced Wednesday.

Hoist the cup with P.C.

Fans can hoist the Turner Cup with P.C. Drouin this Friday, July 16, at the Three Rivers Insurance Group office at 10729 Coldwater Road in Fort Wayne, north of Dupont Road.  Drouin and the Cup will be on hand for photos and autographs from 9AM to 5PM.  Autographed pucks and two game-used P.C. Drouin sticks will be given away.

Ks announce three signings

The Komets announced Tuesday that three more players have agreed to terms for 2010-11.  Veteran P.C. Drouin has signed on for a run at his fourth straight Fort Wayne championship.  Forwards Joe Bluhm and Brant Marple, the top two University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire scorers for 2009-10, have also claimed spots in the Fort Wayne lineup.

Some updates

P.C. Drouin has signed; waiting on approval from the IHL on the contract.

Lincoln Kaleigh Schrock will make his decision on Wednesday; leaning toward returning.

Mathieu Curadeau is deciding between Kalamazoo and Fort Wayne. ``Sometimes when you win one or two in a row, you take it for granted, but they definitely are not,'' Curadeau said. "It could be a great challenge and a great fit for me."

David Franke said they are getting close to re-signing NIck Boucher and Guy Dupuis.

Parade rest

That was fun, though we could have used a little bit of a breeze. We also ran out of cozies way too soon. I kept looking for something to wrap mine in, but nobody handed me anything. I did think it was cruel irony that the Samaritan helicopter kept circling the parade like a vulture waiting for one of us to drop. Great crowd with tons of kids out there.

I actually though Jon Shepler had the coolest "float'' in the parade. Way to go Jon! You da man with the glads.
