Do you mean 1994-1995 or 1996-1997? Both of those teams were really bad.

How about Brian Gratz as the back-up...they could market him as the local kid who made good on his home-town hockey team...oops...be there...done that. LOL
As if he was given any chance either.

PLEASE, PLEASE not another Pat Mazzoli.
I see this more and more, but to me, there's just something WRONG with a backup goalie wearing a baseball cap on the bench. Mazzoli was the first Komet goalie I've ever seen do that (I know there's been others since).
To top it off, he wasn't very good either. Wasn't that the year we had the "goalie of the month" club with guys like Tim Cheveldae, Mike Torchia, and about 6-7 others, including Mazzoli?
I may have those lost Komet goalies mixed in with awful memories of Dusty Imoo and Stephen Wagner flopping (and missing) shots from the blue line and John Blue who apparently forgot to sharpen his skates and kept falling down.

there will be plenty of goalies looking for work once the camps open. lots of college guys out there wiling to be backups for little money to get that pro experience and maybe get noticed.. all uhl(elite professional hockey)teams have inexperienced backups the trick is to find the daiamond in the rough. now the important items, where are our tough scorers and who might our rookies be??

You know, I pitched an idea to the Komets a few months back. You guys remember the All time scorers sets etc? I suggested to them that enough good goalies have come through over the years that they need to do an all goalies set. I think I was wrong though..."The All Time Not So Great Komet Backup Goalies Of All Time" set might sell eve better LOL

Would that be known as the "Sieve" set? :)
I hope the Komets bring in some new blood for backup goalie. Last year at training camp we had three guys: Brian Gratz, Matt Violin and Michael Dilorenzo. By the second home game of the season on Nov. 11 Derek Dolson was in goal.

Did Michael Dilorenzo even get to play? I cannot remember if he even played any preseason minutes.....I will admit that on a few game nights I got my 3 hour nap....but I cannot remember Dilorenzo....I must be getting senile or something. Tony, I do remember 1996-1997.....a friend bought season tix for 1st time....real disappointed about that years team....but I convinced him to renew the tix......

Bob, If memory serves me right, all three of the 'try-out' back-up goalies played in a preseason game. They either each got a period or just equal time on the ice, I can't remember, but Gratz was the only one that wasn't scored on. It was the same preseason game where Hickey fought before getting cut from the team.

Have you heard where Matt Hunter might be playing at this coming season. I know he's not going to be with us but I'm curious if he is going to play in the UHL or not.

Just heard that parking has now gone to $4.00 at the Coliseum. I've always known Randy Brown is an idiot, but this just confirms it. I once asked Micahel Franke if there could be a season pass for Komet season ticket holders. He told me that they approached Randy Brown on it, and he just laughed. He said if people have the money for season tickets, then I think that they should pay more for parking. He actually said that if parking was $3.00, season ticket holders should pay $4.00-$5.00 a game.

I've always thought pricing out at the Colisuem was a scam anyway yet I still pay for parking and food so who am I to complain.
BTW-I saw where Muskegon signed Clayton Pool.

That's a good signing for Muskegon. It is nice to go to some of the other arenas and pay nothing for parking. Of course, those teams own their facility and don't have anyone else governing them.

Nope, the Coliseum is going to charge $8.00 for that lot.

Voorhees seems like a decent signing but I don't anticipate the production.
I am hoping this O'Connell kid has some size because I am starting to wonder who will be left at the North Pole to make the toys.

$8.00? If that is true that is utterly rediculous. Won't be long before the coliseum lot is empty and all the cars are parked at Scott's or any of the other adjacent lots.
