I asked David Franke today about some of Hit Somebody's questions on the Evansville affiliation.
* There's nothing to prevent another IHL team from picking up a player from Evansville unless that player is on a two-way contract with the Komets. Two-way contracts have not been discussed but could be a possibility.
Say there was a Michael Vick of hockey, would you care if he signed to play with the Komets? Would it make a difference to you? What if he was a super-heavyweight figher?
Why am I getting all the Russian blogs in my spam? Who's been doing something naughty on the web?
No, really, here's the new topic: After watching last night's Cubs-Phillies game where the "fan" threw the beer on Shane Victorino, my question is, how far should fans be allowed to go in supporting their teams? Violet Ullyot, wife of legendary Komet coach, general manager and owner Ken Ullyot, passed away Saturday, August 8, 2009, in Fort Wayne, Indiana at the age of 87.
"Vi", a native of Strasburg, Saskatchewan, Canada, married Ken Aug. 15, 1942 in Askwith, Saskatchewan. They moved to Fort Wayne in 1958 when Ken was appointed the Komets' head coach. While her husband took care of the Komets' business and hockey affairs for approximately 30 years, Vi became the team's matriarch. She always made herself available whenever player's wives and families needed help and advice.
Visitation 4-8 p.m. on Thursday.
Memorial service at 3 p.m., Friday with visiting one hour before.
Everything at D.O. McComb's on Lake Avenue.

Vi Ullyot, the wife of long-time Komets coach, general manager and owner Ken Ullyot, is gravely ill and could use a some prayers.
He was looking at the possibility of signing in Asiago, Italy, but told the Komets he would decide by Aug. 1, so he did.
"I wanted to make sure that I let them know in time, and I didn't want to string anyone along," he said. "I couldn't wait any longer. It's not like there's a bitter taste in my mouth coming back here. I think this team is going to be great."
