Psychological advantage

Thanks to Chuck Bailey, these are Nick Boucher's numbers in Port Huron over the last two years:

11 games, 10-1 record, .969 save percentage and 1.97 goals against average. That means A) the Komets always have to feel confident any time they go into McMorran, and B) they better never hope he plays for Port Huron. Un-be-liev-able!

Komets trailed by one in the final minute, but Konstantin Shafranov roofed a wrist shot from just outside the crease in the final minute to force overtime, and then score 1:17 into overtime off a backhand pass from Rick Varone to give the Komets the win.

"It was a great win for us," Komets coach Al Sims said. "When you are losing with 42 seconds left and you end up winning, it's unbelievable. It says volumes about our team and the belief they have in themselves, especially on the road.

Brad Jones' comments

Brad Jones, IHL Vice President of Hockey Operations, had this to say about Brad MacMillan's five-game suspenion:

"Brad is not a dirty player, but the fact of the matter is it was a clear blow to the head delivered with some force. It was the severity of the impact. It wasn't a glancing blow where the elbow hit the shoulder and then moved up. It was clear the elbow was raised and it clearly got him square.
