Komets acquire forward

From a Komets press release:

The Komets announced Sunday that they have acquired left wing Brett Lyon from Bakersfield of the ECHL for cash.

Lyon, 22, has appeared in four games with Bakersfield this season amassing 0 points and 18 penalty minutes.  In addition, the left winger also skated one game this season in the AHL with Abbotsford (11 PIM).

Komets release defenseman

The Komets have released defenseman Kyle Follmer who has been unable to play because of a pulled groin.

High school hockey to honor vets

Fort Wayne High School Hockey will payspecial tribute to area veterans on Wednesday. Each player will honor family members who served in the military by presentingthem a flag as they are recognized at center ice. Players whose relative is deceased will skate the flag to center ice in their place.

Roster moves

The Komets have added two centers. Free agent Phil Mangan, 26, will be in the lineup tonight against Cincinnati wearing No. 94. He played  two games this season with Rapid City CHL and skated stints last season in the ECHL with Stockton, South Carolina and Bakersfield.

They have also acquired center Kenton Miller from Utah of the ECHL in a trade for cash. Miller, 22, is expected to arrive in Fort Wayne and join the team on Monday. Miller appeared in six ECHL games with Utah this season (0 points. 2 penalty minutes).
