Opening Arguments

All in the family

Ah, the most heart-warming story I've seen all month. Two sisters, given up for adoption, finally meet after years -- and discover they hate each other:

I had expected to feel an instinctive bond, and straight away I was amazed to see we shared many mannerisms.

Both of us talk a lot and share gestures such as wagging a finger to emphasise what we are saying. But as our first meeting wore on, Judi's pointing finger became more tiresome.

'I think it's a mistake for women to work such long hours and put their career before everyone else,' she lectured, insinuating that my childlessness was of my own making.

[. . .]

I can honestly say that no one has ever irriatated me quite as much.

[. . .]

I tried my best to like her, I really did - but as the months went by, our relationship worsened.

Nothing like those sibling bonds!

Being an only child DOES have a few "perks".
