Big Bad John

One good thing about the Clinton-Obama slugfest is that it might knock Edwards out of the race fairly quickly:

Former senator John Edwards of North Carolina launched his second campaign for the White House from this flood-ravaged city Thursday with a call for the United States to reduce its troop presence in Iraq and a plea for citizen action to combat poverty, global warming and America's reliance on foreign oil.

Wow. War, poverty, global warming and foreign oil are bad. What a brave, bold platform. I have it -- let's outlaw cars; all problems solved. We won't need the oil, nobody will care about the Mideast any longer, the Earth will be saved, and we will all be equally poor.

I was kind of surprised the "Breck Girl" launched his candidacy from New Orleans.
Last time around he announced it from The Daily Show on comedy central, which seemed a much more appropriate venue.

I have lived this long without ever having been tempted to take John Edwards seriously, and I see no likelihood that I'll start.

I'm never so closed-minded, even as I get older, that I can't be convinced by new information, but right now I'd have to evaluate this guy as an ultra-lightweight and an automatic loser for his party (but then, so are Ted Kennedy and his gang. Talk about your broad spectrum.....)

Guess that means I should support him to the hilt as the Democratic nominee.

But I think he won't even fool his own long enough to be a real contender. Hang it all.
