Boy, they must be dancing in the streets in northwest Indiana:
Now that the Cook County Board has raised Chicago's sales tax to one of the nation's highest, commissioners say they plan to consider hiking the parking tax, too.
[. . .]
That could drive the tax for monthly parkers from about $20 a month to $40.
Cook County taxpayers are already in for a 1 percentage point increase in the sales tax that would bring Chicago's overall sales tax to 10.25 percent, among the highest of any big U.S. city.
Keep bringing it on, Cook County. This sort of puts our plans to up the sales tax from 6 to 7 percent in perspective, doesn't it? It isn't our sales tax alone that matters, but what it looks like in comparison to the states surrounding us.

How do our property taxes look compared to the states surrounding us?

Increased sales taxes are regressive.
I am all for reducing property taxes if it means less state spending, but not if it comes with increased sales and income taxes whcih would make an already regressive system even more regressive.
Why not give us taxpayers some of the money back from Major Movement? afterall it was our asset that Daniels sold to foreign interests
"afterall it was our asset that Daniels sold to foreign interests"
And you were doing such a magnificient job with it too. Shame
Funny how that was a liability until a Republican decided to lease it, then.....overnight "ASSET"....
