Starbucks Corp. Chief Executive Howard Schultz is winning support for his call to withhold political contributions from U.S. lawmakers until they strike a "fair, bipartisan" deal on the country's debt, revenue and spending.
Schultz recently led the world's biggest coffee chain through a painful but successful restructuring that returned it to growth.
I suspect his "fair, bipartisan" deal might include something I don't like, such as tax increases, but at least he recognizes the power we can exert over those clowns in Washington. "Don't give them money" ranks right up there with "Don't vote-- it just encourages them" in fueling the political cynicism we need to tap into occasionally.

Starbucks can give me financial advice when they stop selling coffee to yuppies for 10 bucks a cup. McDonald's brew tastes exactly the same to me, and the kid at the counter knows what "large" and "small" mean.
Maybe you OUGHT to listen to the financial advice of someone who can turn water into gold. He might have other financial tricks up his sleeve.
