I checked out the book "1,000 Places To See Before You Die," and it just seemed like too daunting a mission. Too little time, not enough money. Never happen.
I might have better luck with things I should eat before I die, since I've already got a good start. Of course it's a list that will grow, since bloggers are asked to participate:
To get you started, here are some food-for-thought questions. What are some of your most treasured food memories? Where have you had a dish or a meal beyond compare? Where have you traveled and been bowled over by the cuisine? What foods could you absolutely not live without?
When I think of the foods I've had that I think other people really should not miss out on, the list gets pretty long, but I'd start with blackberry dumplings topped with ice cream, and a good smoked beef brisket with barbecue sauce. Don't know why those two came to mind, but I'm hungry just thinking about them.

A GOOD beef brisket is a must. You can't get it in this town but if you're ever in Kansas City check out Gates or Arthur Bryants - some of the best bbq in the country...
You MUST try the brisket from New Braunfels Smokehouse in the little Texas town of the same name. I discovered the place while driving through Hill Country on the way to visit my brother in Houston a few years ago. Here's their Web site, from which you can order. http://www.nbsmokehouse.com/
Yes, by all means, ... but wait till you come down here this year - there's another place we will take you to - heaven on a plate.
Leo, are you bringing back any "doggy bags" back from Texas?
Maybe I'll have a post-Texas brisket feast for bloggers only.
You'll inspire hordes of Fort Wayners to take up blogging with an offer like that.
I'll add another one. You have to try the Mole at the Red Iguana in Salt Lake City. You wouldn't think that great mexican food would be found in the heart of mormon country - but it is...
