Now that Fred Thompson is all but in the presidential race, it seems fair to start with his voting record, especially as it compares to the Republicans already running. The New York Times describes it as "decidedly but not exclusively conservative," which sounds about right.:
Pat Toomey, a former House member from Pennsylvania (1999-2005) who heads the Club for Growth, a fiscally conservative group that promotes free trade and cutting taxes and spending, offered general praise for Thompson's voting record. Toomey's group will soon issue a detailed “white paper” analyzing Thompson's record on economic issues, as it has done for McCain, Brownback, former New York City mayor Rudolph Giuliani and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee.
“As a general matter, I think Fred Thompson's career in the Senate demonstrates a guy who does have a pretty strong commitment to limited government, free enterprise and particularly federalist principles,” Toomey told CQPolitics.com.

I like Fred Thompson....best candidate I've seen or heard so far (his YouTube vid to Michael Moore is great).
And *if* he's as good a president as most of the characters he's portrayed in many of his movies...there will be a LOT MORE nations lining up to apologize to the USA in the very near future.
Be nice to have the shoe on the OTHER foot for a change.

The GOP embracing a Hollywood lawyer? What has the world come to?
Fred Thompson will surprise alot of the naysayers out there. I can't wait until he faces Billary in the Fall of 08. He'll chew her up and spit her out just like he did with Michael Moore.
Don't look at him as an actor. Look at him as the great Senator he was. The wacko Dems have been trying to dig up something on him for several months, that they can use against him.....they can't find a thing!
Run Fred Run....all the way to the Whitehouse! You have my vote!
