Our editorial today remarks on the inevitability (though not necessarily the desirability) of a statewide public smoking ban, because of rather than in spite of the 36 counties or communities that already have smoke-free ordinances of some kind:

First the local nannies wear ya down, then the State nannies move in, and of course then the Fed's seal your fate permanently. I can't wait until I can just press a button and a representative of the government will appear just in time to wipe the feces from my arse.
I am elated the whole country will be protected eventually from any and all things deemed harmful and/or inconvenient.
I shudder to think what we would do without the guidance of "der state." My God, if not for them we'd still be driving around with out seatbelts buckled and flushing 3 gallon toilets and reading with non-toxic light bulbs.
Buckle up boys and girls, the ride you are about to experience is gonna be a bit bumpy until you just give up and lay down, which won't be long I'm sure.
