Who's the biggest dunce of the day?
1. Stephen Colbert, for taking treating testimony before Congress on a serious issue as a joke:
"This is America," Colbert continued. "I don't want a tomato picked by a Mexican. I want it picked by an American, then sliced by a Guatemalan and served by a Venezuelan in a spa where a Chilean gives me a Brazilian."
2. Rep. Zoe Lofgre, who invited him to testify:
"Many are eager to hear his comments," she said
3. The United Farm Workers, which asked him to appear, apparently in the belief that someone jesting about his one day on a farm would help its cause.
4. Me, for paying any attention to this sideshow.
I pick No. 4. As of right now, "Stephen Colbert" is listed as the top story on Goodle's Top 10 list. Christopher Coates, whose bombshell testimony about the Department of Justice's lack of commitment to the rule of law is a little more important, doesn't even make the list.

Colbert is a genius. The fact that you think he is a dunce says far more about you than about him.
Of course the House members knew what they were going to get when they invited him. I suspect they were looking forward to a free comedy show. God knows the country could use a little humor right now.
LIghten up, or I'll send Jon Stewart to your newsroom!
And Bob and Tim, don't tell me Stewart and Colbert only make fun of conservatives. Both are absolutely ruthless when it comes to Obama.
Can't we all agree that all politicians deserve to be made fun of until they cry, or at least say "uncle"?
I dislocated my wrist today when my motorcycle fell over, so maybe this is just the painkillers talking, but I'm taking a firm stand in favor of being funny. If you object to humor, then please say so in plain English, so we'll at least know to take you off to the re-education camps when the socialists/nazis/ commies/secret muslims take over. We have ways of making you laugh!
Rest assured Littlejohn, your comments make us all laugh.
As always, I'm happy to be a source of amusement.
But seriously, conservatives and liberals perceive Colbert differently. Briefly put, conservatives don't get it.

This is hardly worth arguing about, but I think it's fascinating.
Apparently you guys really don't have a sense of humor.
Maybe there's some other explanation. I'm always happy to discuss these things, if you're willing to be civil.
Honest, I'm a nice guy. I'm up for a beer. Name the time and place. Seriously.
When it comes to comedic "political credibility", I'd take the late Pat Paulsen over Stephen Colbert ANY day...
;)
George Carlin was the pinnacle of satire, and funny as all get out as well.
