Good lord -- I can't leave those people in Michigan City alone for five minutes:
Allegations that a white firefighter held a noose over a black co-worker should be taken seriously, even if the action was a joke, the Michigan City mayor said Tuesday.
"Whether it was a prank or not, it's stupid and there's no room for it,'' Mayor Chuck Oberlie said.
Oberlie would not confirm or deny published reports that a firefighter made a noose from a fire hose and held it above the head of a black co-worker at a training exercise. But the mayor has ordered an internal investigation.
"Stupid" doesn't begin to describe it. But I know Oberlie -- he was city planner when I was there -- and I suspect he'll find out what happened and do what needs to be done.
