Not so alarming

If your house is being burglarized, use your keyless remote to set off your car alarm to chase the bad guy away? Another urban myth demolished:

Also be aware that setting off your car alarm when you hear a stranger attempting to gain entry to your home is not the sure and deadly crime-stopper the e-mailed advice makes it out to be — if you are in danger of bodily harm from an intruder, you can't count on a car alarm to bring capable assistance rushing to your rescue, as such alarms are too often ignored or investigated only after they have been blaring long enough to become severe annoyances to neighbors.

Car alarms are the most ignored warnings of mondern times. I can't remember EVER hearing one and having anybody thinking it required immediate attention.

Yes, car alarm was a bad idea - I still like my Smith and Wesson alarm much better, ... may not bring any other people to help - but it will sure help by itself, ... and is loud enough to make the bad guys run for their lives - if they can still run.
