Robert Spencer, the truck driver in the Taylor crash, has been given four years in prison, but that's not what he'll serve:
A judge sentenced him to eight years total but suspended 4 of them, which would be served on probation. A prosecutor says with time already served including time for good behavior, he will be eligible for release in about a year.
I don't know. One year for five lives. On the other hand, his crime was falling asleep at the wheel. What do you think?

He violated the law by not driving within the required limits of his rest period. That means he must have jockeyed his log books. Had he had proper rest, this would have been less likely to happen. I wonder all the time how many other scofflaw truckers I'm out there on the highway with. In fairness, I worry about the rest of the people on the highway, too.
Trucking is a rough job and you've got to make those miles to make any money, I know that, but this is what happens when the limits are pushed. I think he got off pretty easy.
