A representative of Gov. Mitch Daniels' office says Democratic challenger Jill Long Thompson is making a "political attack," which is pretty hard to refute. Running for governor is a political act, isn't it?
Long Thompson is calling on the Governor to release travel records. She claims the Governor has used state airplanes and other vehicles for personal and political use.
[. . .]
The Long Thompson campaign first asked the Governor last week to voluntarily release the travel records. That request was sparked by an investigation done by Fort Wayne's Journal Gazette. The investigation revealed the state has spent more than $100,000 on fuel in the last 19 months.
Long Thompson said, if elected Governor, she will handle travel differently.
Well, maybe she will, and maybe she won't, and I don't really care much how the governor gets around. This is a political attackand a political stunt by someone behind in the polls. But she has a point. The governor spends my money to travel around, so I have an interest in seeing the figures. Let me see the records so I can decide as an informed voter.
