When you gotta go ...

I remember a time or two in my checkered past, when I incorrectly calculated the equation "condition of bladder plus driving distance left equals time until bathroom is reached," thought, "Oh, who will know?" and pulled the car over to do what needed to be done. Thank God that, 1) I wasn't carrying drugs and, 2) No police were around.  I committed an act "injurious to health, or is indecent, or offensive to the senses'' and got away with it.

Leo, I take your "indiscretion" as an occurance along one of the many highways of America (profusely lined with forestation), ergo, I can't see any problem with "getting away with it".
Deer do it there, bears do it there, even little birdies in those trees do it there.....no big whoop. I've done it myself....out of sight, away from prying eyes, behind a LARGE tree. Heck, out in God's Country, it's most likely GOOD for the environment.

But in ANY urban or suburban venue (as was noted in the SFC article) it IS a public nuisance. It IS indecent. And it IS a health hazard. Civilized people just DO NOT act in this manner. There are plenty of public places of opportunity to do one's "paperwork", as it were. And they're all LEGAL.

Believe me, I see it ALL to often on the south side of town. A neighbor's garage was recently used as the "public lavatory", and another neighbor's house had some friends over that were constantly "paying the rent" from all the beer they consumed, right out back in plain sight of the street.

But the police have to CATCH them doing it. So much for calling it in.

Therein lies the real crime....and it's not called disadvantaged, poor, poverty-stricken, indigent, or uninformed.
It's called selective ignorance.

Could there possibly be any way that the South Side of town could NOT be used as a scapegoat or do people have to have SOMETHING to pick on. Just like the rest of the city, the majority of citizens are decent, hardworking, and own decent homes. I have seen things on the Norh Side of town that are bad, too. AND some horrible crimes have been committed in that area as well as other parts of the city. Constant criticism of the SOUTH SIDE come off as racist and ignorant - even if they are not meant to be - but...they are probably meant to be.

By, the way B.G. You seem to spend a lot of time observing the SOUTH SIDE of town. Tell the truth now, you secretly LOVE it.

You,know B.G. it's Saturday and I've got too much caffeine energy. You're entitled to your opinion. I think I'll stop the blogging thing and "walk away" from this fight. Something about blogging doesn't feel right to me. Why should I care what you think or you care what I think? We wouldn't talk to each other face-to-face because we probably wouldn't like each other very much. I keep trying this on-line "chat" thing and I always end up dropping it.

So, I apologize if I caused offence - please forgive....and I'm outta here.

My wife and I were in Rome about six years ago and I unfortunately saw two construction workers relieving themselves just off a crowded street in the tourist section of Rome...

Without getting off topic (and we have plenty of reason to at this point) I will merely state that until one walks a mile in another person's shoes....one cannot know what it is like BEING in those shoes, on that road. I happen to LIVE on the south side, so I speak from what I see, hear, and expereience.
No offense taken...especially when I'm taken to task for reporting the truth. It lets me know that at least someone is bothered BY the truth.
Thank You
