Tailing the Komets

2-0 Wings

Goals by Justin Cross and John Glavota. It could have been a lot worse, but Mark Nebus missed a penalty shot on Nick Boucher. Komets are not hitting and not getting to rebounds. Wings have gotten behind the D on two plays and cashed on both. Komets could have an argument on Kalamazoo's first goal as a forward was holding the stick of the Komets' Sean O'Connor on the play, but there was no call, and then O'Connor got a misconduct for arguing. Nick Boucher continues t

Everytime I have traveled to Kalamazoo I have been treated poorly, not by the ushers or other workers but by the fans. Constantly bashing not the team but we as fans. Its ridiculous. I feel like when other team fans come to the coliseum they are treated better here than when we go on the road.

About the Kzoo fans...they can be rowdy at times, but when we were up there the last time, I heard a story from a lady that just disgusted me. She was a grandma aged lady, and she said she will never come back to Fort Wayne again. One time she was here she said her windshield was busted out of her car. Accident?? I think not. The second time she came to Fort Wayne a Komet fan threw a beer on her daughter and grandson who was 4 at the time when Kzoo scored. Classy...right? Not all Komet fans are nice to Kzoo fans, but it should be something that is changed immediately.

No, Bonnie,s husband. The chocolate covered cashews by the lobby entrance are good, chuck a puck is real easy if you use the 1 bounce method from center ice.

Thanks to everyone for the advice and info for going up there. Believe me, I hear everyone on the cops info. I have to drive up 3 every day and they are ridiculous on there. Maybe I should leave the bright red sportscar in the garage for awhile?? You'd think there weren't any speed limits in Michigan based on how they drive when they are in Indiana. I'm not a slow driver by any stretch of the word and Michigan people tend to pass me like I'm going backwards. Again, thanks everyone, including DSchebig for all of the advice and great information. Someone mentioned the Twister. Is he a blogger? I sit near him and have all of his classic chants memorized. I think I even saw a smile break on his face when he was recognized as a Real Fan of Genius on the big screen before anyone else when they were talking about the Pro Sports Heckler Guy (or however they phrased it). Hope to see a big crowd at the game tonight. I think our only competition will be the 70 degree night. LET'S GO KOMETS!!!!!!!!!!

Off to make the will call drop, then off to make the doughnuts. My money is on Hoss in the wing eating contest, just by name alone he should have it in the bag.

Okay, I know some of you have had good experiences. But one of our older fans and I'm sorry I don't know her name. She came over to me to tell me about this rude kids, (the 450-lb one) that would not even move so she could get to her seat. She ended up sitting with Lagult. So it goes both ways, I think the ushers were tired because of a few idiot fans. (Yes Komet fans) But that's no reason to treat the rest of us like crap. I'm going tomorrow but I don't enjoy it up there. I will enjoy it more if my team wins for once.

@KometFanFW -

The reason Wings fans are hostile to Komet fans is because some drunken Komets fans for years have come into Wings Stadium and caused trouble. Not quite on par with the problems they had with Peoria fans coming to town in the old "I", but close.

The ushers don't hate Komet fans. There are always some Komet fans though that don't know when to shut up and they end up starting something. They're inevitably drunk, and they're inevitably cursing out some Wings fans with kids sitting right there, trying to start a fight. There's the occasional drunken K-Wing idiot as well, but.... as has been stated, you get that anywhere.

I've actually had many good experiences with both Komets and 'Jacks fans at Wings Stadium over the years though.

But look... if you think you're going to go in Wings Stadium as a visiting supporter and heckle fans and get drunk, get ready to meet the ushers. Heckle the players all you want, heckle the refs (please do, everyone does it)... but don't be stupid and start heckling fans. It'll only get you beat down and/or escorted away.

I'll be in Kalamazoo on Saturday, cheering the K-Wings on. One of these days I want to get down to Fort Wayne for a game, and I will. The two teams are too linked.

And remember folks: The Komets needs the K-Wings, the K-Wings Need the Komets. Without either or both, there is no IHL. Relish this series for all its worth. A sweep either way would have been no fun at all...
