Today's Final Jeopardy category: common bonds.

Today's Final Jeopardy answer: Evan Bayh, Tim Kaine and Kathleen Sebelius.

Today's Final Jeopardy question: Who are three short-list also-rans who have never been in Cliff Claven's kitchen?

Let's go to the Wayback Machine and enjoy that moment, shall we? It may be the last time we can ignore politics for the next couple of months:

Lugar issued this statement:

I congratulate Senator Barack Obama on his selection of my friend, Senator Joe Biden, to be his vice-presidential running mate. I have enjoyed for many years the opportunity to work with Joe Biden to bring strong bipartisan support to United States foreign policy.

I share the disappointment of many Hoosiers that my partner in the Senate, Evan Bayh, was not selected on this occasion, but I believe he will continue to have widespread support for higher office during many years ahead.

Years ago, I had reservations about Dick Lugar. "How could Tricky Dicky's favorite mayor be any good?" I asked myself. I was smack-dab wrong.

Over the decades, he's shown himself to be one of the most intelligent, best-informed, and honest Americans ever to be a member of the Senate, and when he makes a statement like this, it just reinforces my image of him as a class act.

I liked Dan Quayle, but he was a "deer in the headlines" in front of TV cameras. If George H. W. Bush had named Lugar as his running mate, I suspect recent history would look substantially different, and the world would be a better place.

I am unsure how we got from the kitchen of Clifford C. Claven, Jr. to "RINO Dick" Lugar, Dan Quayle and Bush 41 ...nor am I sure why the world would be better because of Lugar.

I did notice, however, that John Ratzenberger does greatly resemble Slow Joe Biden.
