Opening Arguments

Cash and don't carry

1. You are innocent until proven guilty.

2. Oops, that was before the war on drugs.

3. So don't carry  large sums of money; that means you must be guilty, so the state gets your money.

Seems this guy could have done things a LOT differently....
carry travelers cheques?
wire the money AHEAD?

I mean, when you set yourself up to ask for trouble...it usually has NO problem finding you....that's just life in general. And that's with the "glass half full"...lol!

Murphy looks for situations just like this to enact HIS "law"...

I feel for the guy if he's being truthful...if he's not...darn good police work.

In any event...there IS a lesson to be learned here.

Where is the American Civil Liberty Union when you really need them? I see nothing wrong with carrying cash. Here was a guy who was attempting to better his life. Could he have wired the money, maybe? First you have to find a bank to wire it to. Second you have to get the receiving bank to accept it. Third the guy most likely did not have a taxpayers ID which would make it impossible to wire. Four, without a taxpayer ID, no bank would give him traveler
