The Komets announced late Wednesday that they are pushing back the announcement of the next coach until Monday. The Franke brothers say the candidates are so equal that they want more time to think about it, talk to Pat Bingham and John Marks one more time and to check on references. Both coaches say they are continuing to work on recruiting anyway.
The team has also made a revised one-year offer to goaltender Kevin St. Pierre. St. Pierre, who has already sold his house, said he'll consider it and have an answer by Monday.
General Manager David Franke said the Komets are continuing to talk to Colin Chaulk and Guy Dupuis. He has not talked to Tom Lawson.

Keep Welcome To the Jungle as our theme song. It just wouldn't seem right to hear anything else. On gas prices, we just got back from Georgia. Paid $2.65 a gallon. Our daughter lives down there and they can get it for that everyday. Think there's no price gouging going on hear? She couldn't believe our prices.
You got to look at transporation costs, they got refineries all over down south and doesn't cost as much to transport it here up north.
I'm tired of hearing those excuses on gas prices. 44 cents a gallon is ridiculous.
Chaulk is gone. Signed in Europe.

Guess that settles that.
Greg I think Marks is capable of shaking things up. Don't let his age fool you into thinking he is going to be more mellow than Bingham. I think both guys have the same fire and passion. I have been thinking about this more and more. I really am not sure I want a guy coaching who is going to have even a part of his brain wondering if people above are taking notice so he can get out of town on to something "better" Marks will live and breath Komet Hockey 24/7.
My apologies, I didn't explain that very well. The point I was trying to make is that I believe you might get a bigger risk taker with Bingham because he's young and may want to go on to higher things. Not that Marks can't move to a higher level either.
That is true. There is something to be said for that. So which way are you leaning. This has got to be hard for them but at the same time secure in that both guys will do a good job.
I like stability more than anything else so my pick right now would be Marks, but it's 51-49.
