Conventional wisdom

It has been observed by more than a few people that the way Democrats have been running their primary should be a cautionary tale about how they would run the country. Now, let's consider evidence of how they are running their convention:

Fried shrimp on a bed of jasmine rice and a side of mango salad, all served on a styrofoam plate. Bottled water to wash it all down.

These trendy catering treats are unlikely to appear on the menu at parties sponsored by the Denver 2008 Host Committee during the Democratic National Convention this summer.

Fried foods are forbidden at the committee's 22 or so events, as is liquid served in individual plastic containers. Plates must be reusable, like china, recyclable or compostable. The food should be local, organic or both.

Ah, those repressed, authoritarian Republicans, eh, and those carefree, fun-loving Democrats.

This is a sillier than usual shot at the Democrats.

I had some fun with this on another blog a couple of days ago. I noted the politically correct Dems may very well rescind the strict menu when they see the estimates for catering "all organic" and local. It ain't cheap!

Their convention will be in Denver. How much does all-organic, locally-grown coffee cost in Denver?

Hillary was saying today that counting the fake primary in Florida, the one they said not to bother voting in, because it wasn't going to count, was like the fight for woman's suffrage, like civil rights, like Florida 2000, like Zimbabwe.

Thirty people were killed in the events leading up to the 2000 elections in Zimbabwe. In 1917, superintendent Whittaker ordered the forty guards at the Occoquan workhouse to brutalize the suffragettes. They beat Lucy Burns, left her for the night with her hands chained over her head, threw Dora Lewis into a dark cell and smashed her head against an iron bed, knocking her out. In 1963, Bull Connor turned the fire hoses and attack dogs against civil rights workers.

But you ain't seen nothin' yet, if they don't have coffee at the Denver convention. It will get REALLY nasty.
